Placement rotations
Your journey will include four six-month rotations, each designed to build specialised skills and provide diverse industry insights:
New Business and Strategic Development
Overview: Support the identification and evaluation of new market opportunities, investment strategies, and strategic initiatives across energy sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis on power markets, regulatory developments, and energy transition trends to identify new business opportunities.
- Evaluate potential commercial strategies and new business models to support the company’s long-term growth.
- Support the development and use of financial models to assess potential infrastructure investments, including generation, storage, and flexibility assets.
- Assist in the assessment of M&A opportunities, including market screening, valuation analysis, and preparation of investment cases.
- Support project management of strategic initiatives, coordinating cross-functional teams to progress new business opportunities.
- Prepare analytical reports, investment summaries, and presentations for senior management to support strategic decision making.
Power Trading and Market Analysis
Overview: Work on our GB power trading desk, whilst developing advanced forecasting and analytic skills.
Responsibilities:
- Optimise our fleet of generation and storage assets to secure maximum value.
- Execute trading strategies in prompt commodity markets, including day-ahead power and gas markets.
- Collaborate with operations to monitor and adjust the real-time performance of our generation fleet.
- Build forecasting models and produce insightful analytical reports.
- Provide cutting-edge market analysis to support our trading strategies.
- Monitor market trends and economic factors that impact energy trading decisions.
Energy for Business
Overview: This rotation provides exposure to Conrad Energy’s Energy for Business division, which delivers Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), electricity supply, and route-to-market services for commercial and industrial customers. The placement is structured in two phases, allowing graduates to develop both analytical and commercial skills across pricing, sales, and customer relationship management.
Pricing and Analytics
The first half of the rotation focuses on pricing, analytics, and commercial risk assessment for PPAs and electricity supply contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Support the pricing and structuring of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and industrial & commercial electricity supply contracts.
- Analyse market data, forward power curves, and customer load profiles to inform pricing decisions.
- Assist with price and volume forecasting, ensuring forward positions are appropriately hedged in GB wholesale power markets.
- Evaluate contract pricing structures and identify potential risk exposures linked to market volatility and customer consumption patterns.
- Work with analysts and traders to refine pricing models used in customer quotations and portfolio management.
- Contribute to the preparation of commercial proposals and internal pricing documentation.
Customer Sales and Account Management
The second half of the rotation transitions into a client-facing commercial role within the Energy for Business team.
Responsibilities:
- Support the sales process for new PPA and electricity supply customers, including proposal preparation and contract structuring.
- Work alongside account managers to manage relationships with industrial and commercial customers.
- Assist in monitoring contract performance and ensuring customers receive accurate reporting and market insights.
- Coordinate with internal teams (trading, operations, and analytics) to deliver integrated energy solutions to customers.
- Develop an understanding of the commercial drivers behind energy procurement decisions and how Conrad Energy’s solutions support customers’ energy and sustainability strategies.

- Learn and develop: Gain exposure to a range of market disciplines – from real-time trading operations to strategic data analysis.
- Contribute actively: Play a key role in optimising our trading portfolio, executing strategies, and communicating insights to drive business performance.
- Collaborate: Work closely with a team of shift traders, market analysts, digital innovators, and risk managers in a supportive, high-performance environment.
- Own your success: Develop your own trading and analytical skills, with full responsibility for specific aspects of our operations, under the guidance of experienced mentors.

We are seeking candidates who are:
- Excellent communicators: Able to articulate complex ideas clearly, both in person and via digital platforms.
- Analytically strong: High numeracy with a passion for market economics and data-driven decision-making.
- Qualified: Minimum 2:1 bachelor’s degree.
- Motivated and independent: A self-starter who thrives in both team settings and independent work.
- Curious about energy markets: A keen interest in power trading, energy markets, and renewable energy trends is highly desirable.
