Energising an award winning cheesemaker

Conrad Energy Belton Farm solar array

Conrad Energy’s 1.5MW on-site solar project for the award-winning dairy Belton Farm has now been energised.

The efficiency of on-site installations with direct supply like this one is hard to match. With the array located just a stone’s throw from the factory, energy doesn’t have to travel far. This minimises transmission losses and maximises the impact of every kilowatt generated.

Belton Farm is a trailblazer in sustainability. It was one of the first cheesemakers to run a carbon footprint programme both at a business level and with its local farmers. Between 2009 and 2021, it reduced total emissions by 48%, all while increasing cheese production year on year.

Now, this new solar project is expected to cut Belton Farm’s carbon footprint by another 350 tonnes of CO2 next year. Through a power purchase agreement, Belton will also benefit from energy cost savings, all from a renewable, dedicated asset.

We’re proud to support Belton Farm as they take another big step toward a sustainable future.
