International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, celebrated on March 8, has the theme “Accelerate Action“. This theme highlights the urgent need for swift and decisive measures to achieve gender equality. According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2023, gender parity might not be reached until 2154. Therefore, the call to accelerate action is a global initiative aimed at dismantling systemic barriers and biases that women face in both personal and professional spheres. The campaign encourages everyone to support the advancement of women’s rights and collectively hasten the journey towards gender equality.
At Conrad Energy, we are committed to supporting and nurturing female talent. Their diverse skills and backgrounds strengthen our business and enable responsible scaling. We support women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), update female-friendly policies, and avoid all-male shortlists. As the energy sector evolves, we are committed to building a diverse talent pool with increased female participation.
In advance of IWD 2025, we engaged with both our male and female colleagues to discuss the issues that mattered most to them.
What advice would you give to women colleagues entering this male-dominated industry?
“Be passionate about what you’re doing to the point that it becomes infectious; you will be surprised on what an impact this has.”
“Confidence is key. Believe in your skills and never underestimate your value.”
What inspires you to keep going when faced with challenges in your career?
“Don’t ever give up! It’s tough taking constructive feedback, but it’s a gift.”
“I remind myself why I started, lean on my support system and focus on the bigger picture.”
How do you celebrate your successes?
“Saying “thank you” costs nothing, yet it means so much to people.”
“I take a moment to reflect on the journey, express gratitude to those who supported me.”
How can men be better allies to women in the workplace?
“I don’t think being an ally is about stepping in to ‘help’, it’s about actively nurturing an environment where everyone has the same opportunities to thrive and succeed. Allyship means ensuring all voices are heard, valued, and given the space to lead.”
What have you learned from working with women colleagues at Conrad Energy?
“Working alongside my female colleagues has highlighted the power of diverse perspectives in decision-making. They bring tenacity, fresh perspectives, and a willingness to challenge assumptions that push me to think more critically and drive better, more effective solutions.”
Can you share a story of a female colleague whose achievements you admire?
“What I admired most about a former colleague is that her influence wasn’t just about personal success in the traditional sense, it was about setting standards, demanding more, and inspiring both men and women to step up.”
As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace where every voice is heard and valued. Together, we will continue to break barriers, innovate, and lead the way towards a sustainable energy future. Here’s to the incredible women who power our success and inspire us daily.
