We provide fast, flexible energy to the grid when renewables can’t meet demand. While gas engines have a carbon footprint, their intermittent and short-term use is essential for providing energy to the grid when renewable sources fall short. Our proprietary software, iON+, optimises energy distribution from our power assets, leveraging machine learning and automation for unparalleled efficiency.
Our aim is to support the UK’s energy needs with minimal environmental impact and take us towards net zero. That’s why we are committed to expanding our battery sites, exploring new, sustainable flexible energy solutions, and incorporating more renewable generation sources into our portfolio.
At the heart of our company lies a commitment to enhancing the world for future generations. As a responsible developer, owner, and operator of energy assets, we are dedicated to creating a cleaner, greener future for the UK and our planet. We are mindful of the impact our installations have on local communities and carefully select site locations, actively engaging with residents, local councils and communities throughout the design process. Our approach also includes a thorough understanding of broader environmental impacts, and we continually strive for excellence and learning through all of our work.
Our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) approach
With our expanding network of staff and partners, developing our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) vision has become crucial, particularly for reporting purposes.
We prioritise ESG in our activities, with the support and unwavering commitment of our employees. And we recognise the urgency and importance of addressing sustainability agendas at local, national, and global levels.
The team at Conrad Energy has launched several initiatives to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and invest in renewable energy. We also collaborate with our suppliers to emphasise the importance of integrating sustainability into their practises. What’s more, our community projects raise awareness about environmental and social causes, making a grassroots impact.
Our ESG target areas are aligned with the relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enabling us to address the issues most material to our operations.

An example of our environmental focus
Generating renewable energy through a collaborative and sustainable approach.
Enhancing the biodiversity of our sites is something which the team at Conrad Energy takes seriously. So, when given the opportunity to do something particularly meaningful at the Larport site, we worked hard to create a landscape where the native flora and fauna could flourish.
Early consultation with the local Parish Council about native biodiversity uncovered an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the County’s black poplar tree population. The Woodland Trust estimates that only ~7,000 wild black poplars now grow in Britain. Of these, only 600 are female trees, and the Forestry Commission states that black poplar is the most endangered native timber tree in Britain. We planted 10 native black poplars – specially sourced from the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust – representing a 12% increase in the species’ population for the entire county.
In addition, 40 hectares of native wildflower grassland (using a specially curated wildflower seed mix), and 3 types of grasses (that grow to specific heights during the year) are being specially designed to continually attract and encourage the local bee population. Steps are being taken to install and maintain 8km of hedges, and plant belts of native trees. Installation of several hibernacula along with bat and bird boxes to support the flourishing wildlife population is also underway.
The Larport solar farm project is expected to deliver significant Biodiversity Net Gain (132%, compared to the government recommended target of 10%).
